(Klara Zetterholm, Jenny, 2024, Mannequin, synthetic clay, acrylics, varnish, wig, textile, fur, leather, pleather, string, deer antlers, taxidermy mink stole, plastic waste, bottle caps, sea shells, beanie cap, safety glasses, 185 x 62 x 55 cm)
We are thrilled to participate in the second edition of Minor Attractions Art Fair at the Mandrake Hotel, London, initiated by Jonny Tanna, founder & director of Harlesden High Street, and Jacob Barnes, founder and director of GROVE.
We will present a new stunning sculptural work by KLARA ZETTERHOLM, continuing her interest in the mannequins inspired by wax reconstructions of prehistoric humans at natural history museums. Created as an abstraction of both the ultramodern and the prehistoric, the prosperous and apocalyptic, these binaries collide in a similar-looking human.
Klara's work will be featured alongside CHRISTIAN JANKOWSKI's riveting neon work "Castle in the Air", commissioned by Château Royal Hotel, Berlin in 2022 and already showcased in meaningful contexts such as at Backstage Engelberg, Switzerland (2023) and Luftbrücke, Germany (2024). Collaborating with electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and other craftsmen, Jankowski invites them to sketch castles during their work breaks on various construction sites. These sketches, coming from the minds of those who physically shape our environments, become the blueprints for neon sculptures—visual representations of their architectural fantasies.
